As I sit here to update our class page, a snowstorm is on it's way! We are up and ready to teach virtually for our half-day/snow day!
February is a busy month in Kindergarten! Of course, with Valentine's Day this month, we focus on love and friendship (as we always do in Kinder!). We will enjoy some great read-alouds this month, including
Roses are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink! and
Love Monster. Our kindergarteners are becoming great readers and writers and are "tapping" CVC words like pros through our Fundations phonics program! We have completed personal narratives, and will be moving on to "How-To" writing in Writer's Workshop. We will be learning all about America and our American symbols this month. In science, we will begin a new unit on Properties, and will create our very own "Properties" shape monsters as a culminating activity!
We will be welcoming in the Year of the Ox and celebrating Chinese New Year, wearing red for good luck! At the end of the month, we will be 100 days smarter! We will dress up as one hundred year old grannies and grandpas, to add to the fun. Finally, we will learn all about our teeth and how to best take care of them as February is Dental Health Month!
As always, lots of learning, lots of love and lots of laughter in K-2!
