Mrs. Cynthia Sweeney

My name is Cindy Sweeney, and have been the school social worker for 13 years.  I like to say that my most valuable education has been from life experience. I have been married for 36 years, mother of three children, and grandmother of two.  I was a "stay at home" mom who went back to school when my youngest child started school full time.  I graduated from Molloy College in 2001, and continued to Fordham University, graduating from the Masters of Social Work Program in 2002.  My career began shortly thereafter at MercyFirst.  I was a preventive caseworker, advocating for families in need throughout Nassau County.  In 2002, I was hired by Catholic Charities counseling both families and individuals. From there, I received the opportunity to pursue school social work at four Catholic elementary schools. I worked at Maria Regina, Our Lady of Lourdes, Sacred Heart, and where I continue today St. William the Abbot School.
